The 18th Arab Regional Conference, which took place in Tunis (Tunisia) last May, elected the new Regional Committee for the next three years. The Arab Committee meets every year to ensure the implementation of the Arab Regional Conference’s decisions.
The new committee has chosen Essia Fathallah as the new Chairman and postponed choosing the Vice-chairman until the next committee meeting in February 2008.

Essia Fathallah - Chairman (Tunisia)
Essia was first elected to the Arab Committee WAGGGS in 2004. In her professional life, She has been the Cultural coordinator in Almotawasseteya City in Tunisia since 2000.

Essia is specialized in Girl Guiding training and outlining programmes for environmental protection. She has experience in the field of Information Technology, First Aid, protection of heritage, and organization of conferences, camps, gatherings and exhibitions at national, Arab and world level.
Abla Abu Nawar (Jordan)
Abla is the International Commissioner of the Jordanian Association of Scouts and Girl Guides. She is also a member of the Executive Committee, the Consultative Committee and the national strategy development committee in Jordan. In her professional life, Abla is the Head of Public Relations, Ministry of Education. She was involved with WAGGGS and the Arab Region in the past as:
- Honorary Member of WAGGGS since 2003
- Substitute, World Board member (1996-2001)
- Member of the Arab Committee (1984-1988)
Abla has been involved with many national and international NGOs such as the Jordanian Association for Children’s Care, the Jordanian Support Fund, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), UN Fund for Population, UNICEF, UNESCO and the International Federation of Sports for all.
Abla has experience in: International training; leadership of gatherings on the level of Brownies, Girl Guides and Rangers; training of trainers; organizing conferences; managing programmes for training the leaders.
Sagda Gasem ALholy (Kuwait)
Sagda is the Programme commissioner and member of the National Board of the Kuwait Girl Guides Association. She is also the Vice-chairman of the Kuwaiti young women committee since 2001.
In her professional life, Sagda has a Masters degree in International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) management as an introduction to promote Physical Education management in Ministry of Education in Kuwait. She is very keen to use her degree to develop standards to promote Girl Guiding through the ISO.
Noura Noomani Jaroudi (Lebanon)

She has been involved with many NGOs in Lebanon:
- The Women’s Council (1995-1997)
- The Lebanese Child Federation (1996-2000)
- Charity Support (trustee) 1998-2001
- Member, Mother and Child Care
- Educational consultant, Beirut Social Development Association
Noura hopes to use her personal and professional knowledge and experiences to promote Girl Guiding in the Arab Region through her work in the Regional Committee.
Monjeya Ahmad Alghadamsy (Libya)
Monjeya is the programme commissioner for the Brownies, Fatayat and Guides in the Public Scout and Girl Guide Movement of Libya. She is the Head of the Publishing department – book Sector in Ministry of Culture.

Mona Abdel-Ghany Alshal (Egypt)
Mona is the General Commissioner for training in the Egyptian Association of Girl Guides and member of the National Board.
In her professional life, she is Head of a private school and a trainer to qualify new teachers for schools and other organizations. She is also a trainer for people with special needs.
She has undertaken lots of work for other National or International NGOs:

UNICEF, participating in reproductive health seminars in 1999 and 2001

UNHCR, through the Arab Scouts org. in 1998, 2000 and 2001.

International Relief Organization during the Palestinian Entifada and the War in Lebanon
Mona has experience in modern directions in developing leadership and has good negotiation and communication skills.
She is very keen to extend the Girl Guiding role in integrating people with special needs with their communities and to increase the membership in the Girl Guiding Movement on National and Arab level.
