Tuesday

What a great day it was!

The day started with reflections from the Cotlmqs patrol which was very creative and encouraged us, as young leaders, to be the hope that never dies.

This was then followed by a talk from two doctors on adolescent health. We discussed the health hazards during and after puberty. We were encouraged to take low levels of sugar and fat to prevent obesity. The other talk focussed on bone structure and maintenance as young leaders.

We also received information on HIV/AIDS with regards to transmission. They remind us that the most vulnerable people to the disease are mainly young women and adolescents. Questions concerning HIV/AIDS were also addressed during the talk.,/p>

Dr Ahmed Hussein then gave a very lively and informative talk on early marriage. We discussed whether there is a right age for marriage. It was an excellent presentation!

After lunch we had an open forum were we discussed issues such as:

  • Youth committees in our regions
  • HIV/AIDS and HIV prevention
  •  How active we are as young leaders in decision making in our associations

Each group made project presentations and also lovely projects stands.

The evening was free and most people went to explore Cairo to buy some gifts while others decided to just get some rest after all this activity!
