The two chairmen of the regions welcomed us to the forum and took us through reflection on ‘you can make the difference and play your drum’, introducing the theme of the forum and challenging us to ‘Take the lead’.

Following this, the giant map of both regions was presented, which gave us an opportunity to stick a pin on our country’s map and share our different positions in our Association. The planning team introduced themselves as well.

The regional director of the Arab Region, Micheline Antonian, and the regional director of Africa, Alphonsine Kabagabo, highlighted the aim and objective of the forum. Then we declared our expectations and we agreed on the code of conduct of the forum.

Micheline and Alphonsine took us through a session on WAGGGS six areas of work. We were delighted to have Queen Nefertiti at our forum during the session on ‘Discover your potentials’ by Nadine Elachy.

We had a wonderful evening. We went on a cruise down the Nile to the Egyptian Sea Scout headquarters for the official opening of the forum. We met lots of distinguished guests. The ceremony featured traditional dance by the Egyptian Girl Guides and exchange of gifts.

Finally, we visited the traditional bazaar, the Khan El Khalili, where we bought beautiful Egyptian souvenirs for our family and friends.
