World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Members' area

Wednesday

This is our last day.. it’s dedicated to look at ways to improve quality of guiding in the MOs and to discuss ways to promote and develop Guiding on the regional level.

The first session started with an overall view of the past 4 days’ sessions presented by our 4 young leaders. Participants were then divided into their own delegation to discuss together action plan to develop the Association on the National level. Each delegation then presented their plan. It was interesting to note that most of them agreed to carry out Advocacy campaign for issues affecting young women in their country. Leadership training, and carrying out the same training event on the National level was also a priority for most of them.

During the second session, participants were again splited into two groups: young women on one side and Chief/International Commissioners on the other side looked at ways to raise the profile of the Arab Region and how they could help develop it on all levels.

The whole group then looked at the outcome of this session. It was interesting to notice that the two groups had several similar recommendations, the mo
st important ones were:
  1. Carry on using young women on the Arab level in order to have a strong pool of Arab trainers.
  2. Have at least once in a triennium a similar event where Chief/International Commissioners as well as young women can meet.
  3. Give as much opportunity to young women to attend international events.
It is refreshing to see how the group worked and interacted together, listened to each others point of view, reached agreement and worked towards the same aim which is to develop full potential of Arab girls and young women to become good citizens.
Essia Fathallah, Chairman, Arab Region.
Furthermore, the group agreed on the job description for the International Commissioners as well as for the Chief Commissioners. These two papers will be sent to all MOs in the very near future together with the full report and recommendation of the training.
Very useful training as it is meeting our needs .We hope to have more of these training events in the future to further develop our skills.
Faten Eisa, Chairman, Yemeni Girl Guides Association.

The day ended with the closing ceremony in a joyful atmosphere, where certificates of attendance and appreciation were presented.
Our thanks and gratitude goes to the Scouts and Guides of Oman for hosting this event.
