The first training for the Board members of Sharjah Girl Guides commissariat

At the invitation of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al-Qassimi, wife of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, to develop guiding in UAE in general and in Sharjah in particular, a 1st visit by Essia Fathallah (Chairman, Arab Region), Lydia Mutare (Director, Strategies for Growth) and Micheline Antonian (Director, Arab Region) was carried out in February in order to assess and evaluate the actual situation.An Action Plan was drafted and as a first step it was agreed to carry out a training for the National Board were ways to move the Organization forward would be discussed and agreed.
The Training was carried out at the National Headquarters of Sharjah Girl Guides from 12 – 16 June 2008 by Micheline Antonian, Regional Director Arab Region and Nadine ElAchy, World Trainer.
Participants were the Board Members of Sharjah and 12 young leaders.
The training was very successful and participation from all was very high.
The following training methods were used:
-Interactive session
-Games
-Workshops
-Debate
-Active learning
There was good cooperation among all and good participation between young and "older" leaders. All group work was highly effective and the guiding spirit was noticeable.
We wish the Sharjah Team all the very best in their process of developing their Association. They have some very competent and able young women and leaders that could shine and be an inspiration to others.
