The meeting was preceded by a two day’s induction training for the newly elected Arab Committee which met successfully the following set objectives:
- Sharing of information
- Better understanding of ways of work
- Establish good practice in communication
- Building of a team
The Committee Meeting was very successful as it gave members the opportunity to discuss and agree on ways to develop Guiding in the Arab Region through evaluating the previous operational plan 2005-2008 and discussing the ways to implement the next Operational Plan 09-11 in light of the results of the Performance Indicators.
The Committee also evaluated the last Regional Conference that was held in Tunis in 2007. Results will help in organizing the next Regional Conference. Information was given on the World Conference that will be held in July 2008 and the Committee discussed ways to encourage all MOs to attend. There were also presentations on Advocacy, World Update as well as the General Report and those Committee Members who carried out assignment gave also their report...
The Committee elected Noura Jaroudi as its Vice-Chairman. This election process should have been done during the Regional Conference in May 2007 but the committee then decided to postpone the election as not all elected Members were present. We wish Noura all the best in this new and challenging position.
