First session

Deputy Nabila, member of the Tunisian parliamentThe day started with a reflection led by Sudan. This was then followed by a wonderful presentation by the keynote speaker Deputy Nabila Elkelal, member of the Tunisian parliament.

Nabila gave a presentation on the current situation of the Arab women. She call to action to freedom and how we should work together to improve the situation of our girls. By doing this, she said, we reach the equality for all human beings.

Nabila added that by working together and hearing the voice of the oppressed we will be able to build a better world.

Operational Plan 2009-2011

Micheline Antonian, Regional Director, presented the aim and objectives of the Operational Plan 2009 – 2011. She explained the main structure of it and the process used so far. Participants were then divided into 3 groups each group discussed one goal, decided on objectives and agreed on the most important activities to reach objectives and desired outcome.

In the afternoon the changes were presented and unanimously approved.

Our Conference is about to end. The election campaigns are at its peak and everybody is waiting for the elections. We work together hand in hand through the days to come up with an Operational Plan that meets the needs of the region and make our girls and young women voice louder and well heard through out the region to advocate the issues of their concern. My message to the new Committee is to listen to young women and give them access to decision-making positions for more shining and distinction ... Thank you ... Thank you for your distinction, ambition and perseverance ... All my best wishes,
Zeina Kfoury,Chairman Arab Committee

Third session

Jordan and Lebanon presented to the conference their bid to hold the next Arab Regional Conference.

It was then decided that the 19th Arab Regional Conference will meet in Lebanon

In the current triennium a big step forward has been the repositioning of the organization and also the new website for WAGGGS and the Arab micro site. The presentation recognized that the microsite is an excellent tool to help our daily work and to provide access to opportunities in the national, regional and world level.
