Prevention of Trafficking of Girls and Young Women

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts views the trafficking and exploitation of women and children as a severe violation of human rights
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is taking a stand on the issue of trafficking*. The United Nations estimates that around 4 million people, mostly women and children, are moved from one place to another, against their will, each year.

Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world are tackling the root causes of trafficking.   Education, training and income-generating projects are being run by World Association Member Organizations, to help take women and girls out of potentially vulnerable situations.

* "Trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of threat, force or coercion, including abduction, fraud, deception or the abuse of power or a position of vulnerability"
