19th Arab Regional Conference- Day 3
The day began with the speech of our keynote speaker, the honorable Mrs. Leila El-Solh Hamadeh, the vice-president of Al-Waleed Bin Talal Foundation. She emphasized the importance of change and highlighted the social projects she has carried out to contribute to positive change in the Lebanese society. Her words were sincere and reflected on achievements.
Interactive discussions between Mrs. Laila and the delegates took place afterwards, and everyone praised the speech with thunderous applause, then everyone took souvenir pictures with her.
In the morning session, the proposed Constitutional Amendments were presented and all procedures have been followed to ensure the legality of the vote.
The second session introduced the subject of WAGGGS advocacy and community leadership, exploring differences and similarities. By the end of the session, participants had an understanding of both topics within WAGGGS and the impact they can have on all levels.
In the afternoon session, the eight Arab Regional Committee nominees introduced themselves to the delegates, talking about their visions for the development of Girl Guiding in the Arab Region. They then wore green scarves so everyone recognizes them.
The evening session was dedicated to introduce leadership development in WAGGGS on different levels. Participants understood the philosophy and the value of the WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP) and its benefits at different level and how important it is for the region and individuals. Young delegates who had the opportunity to attend WLDP events talked about their experiences, which had a great impact on the delegates.
This was followed by a presentation on the four WAGGGS World Centres highlighting their achievements and future events. The presentation also included the benefits to attend or work as volunteer at the World Centres.
The coffee table discussion was considered a great way of training and sharing many great ideas. Participants were divided into four groups to discuss four topics: Vision 2020, challenges in voluntarism, raising profile of Member Organizations and How to update your training scheme.
The National Day concluded the programme of today. All delegations rallied to show the culture of their countries: clothes, food, tourist posters and brochures
It was a geat atmosphere of celebration, love and harmony in the presence of the Lebanese and Arab media.
